Seated Basketball

This one is a favorite because it requires strategy and teamwork. The game is divided up between two teams. The goal is to get a ball into a basket. This can be a basketball hoop, but I have found it just as fun playing it with laundry baskets placed on a table. Each player has their own chair and is played in rounds. At the beginning of a round, the players have a short amount of time to place their chairs in a position. Once placed, they are not allowed to move from their spot. They then must pass the ball to each other, without it getting intercepted by the opposing team. After each round the players become more strategic and shift from focusing on offense and defense. Whereas one round may consist of one team placing all their chairs around the opposing goal, they’ll quickly realize that they are unable to shoot from their location. Likewise, a team that has no one in the middle of the field is unable to make an adequate pass to their teammates. An interesting side effect of this game is the loner and unpopular student will often become the most passed to player. They are the ones that are open, because the opposing team neglects to place a chair next to them to guard.

Grog

You take apart a flashlight and hide the parts throughout the play area. One kid is the Grog, which is a monster that can freeze you in place by tagging you. Everyone has to work together to find the parts, assemble the flashlight, and shine it on the Grog to defeat “it.”

Are you thinking what I am thinking?

All you need is a group of 4+ people and a small cup. 

How to play: there is one player in the middle and that player will fill the cup with a little, or a lot of water, then they will choose a subject i.e. "Colors" and in his/her mind choose a specific one. Then the remaining players will take turns naming colors. The player who says the color that the player in the middle is thinking gets all the water in the cup surprisingly thrown/dumped/tossed all over them and now they are in the middle. They must now refill the cup and choose a different subject. Specifics may not be repeated or made up, any of the following must result in throwing/dumping/tossing of the water. Rules may be modified to group, just make sure to play fair and have fun.

Blind Mans Bluff

It is a lot like tag, except for the person that is it, is blindfolded. We would play this all the time in my living room, until the person that was it, ran into our food all table and knocked a huge hole in our wall, after that we had to bring the game out side. If you do decide to play in a room, make sure it is brake proof first.

Bed Sheet Ping Pong

Split into even teams, with players holding a bed sheet at opposite ends. Place a ping pong ball in the middle, and move it about by raising or lowering the sheet.

• The goal of the game? To get the ball to fall off the sheet on the side of your opponent.

Who is it?

Stand in a circle. Blindfold a guest and have them stand in the middle.

• On ‘Go!’, they must reach out to the circle
• The first person they nab must answer “who is it?”, only in a weird voice
• If the blindfolded one guesses who this person is, the players swap for a new round

But if they guess incorrectly? The game continues until someone is caught.

Dominance

As in the animal kingdom my friend has created this game to declair dominance over everyone she meets. That game goes like this, you must make eye contact with someone and say out loud "challenge for dominance" and then you must hold eye contact until one person looks away. I Dare You To Jenga

It is played just like Jenga, exept that on the blocks, there are dares/challenges written on them and the person who pulls the block must compleat the challenge on the block. 

Dare examples:

Put on a blindfold and slow dance with a player. See if you can guess who it is by touch alone.

Go to the kitchen and eat something that is not meant to be eaten alone (like chili powder, pepper, etc).

You have to remain perfectly sill for one minute. Meanwhile another player is going to attempt to get you to move buy whatever means he/she can think of. 

Become the slave of another player of your choosing for 10 minutes.

Go to the bathroom and change, you must "go commando" for the rest of the game.

Touch your nose with your tongue. If you are unable to do this you must touch another players nose with your tongue.

Go outside and run around, while screaming "I have lost my voice, please help me find it".

Name all seven of Snow White's dwarfs. Any you are unable to name in 30 seconds will be written on your arms, legs, belly or face by the other players.

Give a piggyback ride to or receive a piggyback ride from another player.

Call one person at random who you know and knows you ask them "When a cow laughs, does milk come out it's nose?"

Put an ice cube in your pants pocket and keep it there until it completely melts.

Have another player tie or tape your hands together for a minimum of the next three rounds. You must select a dare before you can be untied.

Put lipstick on another player but you are not allowed to use your hands.

Get on all four and howl and bark at another player anytime they move or speak for the next 3 rounds.

Have another player select a food from the kitchen for you to eat without the uses of your hands. (The messier the better.)

Act out a TV commercial of your choosing. Enlist the help of other players as needed but you cannot tell which

Pound your chest and do your best Tarzan yell.

Attach toilet paper to your shoe and keep it there for the rest of the game.

Poke someone you do not know on facebook

Go to the neighbors and ask to borrow an umbrella

Put on a blindfold and feel another players face, see if you can guess who it is buy touch alone.

Take an item of food from the refrigerator and kiss it passionately for 90 seconds.

Select another player and repeat everything they say for the next 3 rounds. 

Pick your nose and show the results to the group? 

Stand facing another player. Each player must reach out toward the other player and get as close as possible to the other player with out touching them. The player who first touches the other player must answer a penalty truth question.

Tuck in your shirt and drop an ice cube down your front. You must then perform a break dance until the ice cube shakes out or melts.

Take off your shoe and suck on one of your toes. If you are unable to suck on your own toe you must suck on another players toe. 

Record a video of you singing any popular song that you know all the words to and post it to youtube

For the next person, who is not a player, that walks into the room give them a hug and refuse to let go. 

Select another player and describe in detail what you would have them do if they were your slave for the next hour. What would you have them do? (The selected player must then accept or reject the offer to become your slave.) 

Bunco

Each round is begun by the head table ringing the bell. When that happens, the scorekeeper at each table picks up the three dice and begins rolling them.

Each time the dice are rolled, each die is read separately (they aren't added together).

• In round 1, each 1 rolled is worth 1 point.
• In round 2, each 2 rolled is worth 1 point.
• In round 3, each 3 rolled is worth 1 point.
• In round 4, each 4 rolled is worth 1 point.
• In round 5, each 5 rolled is worth 1 point.
• In round 6, each 6 rolled is worth 1 point.
• Rolling three-of-a-kind of the same number of the round you're on is a Bunco. The player must call out "Bunco!" to receive 21 points, and then must keep rolling (unless the player is sitting at the head table in which case she rings the bell to signal the end of that round).
• Rolling three-of-a-kind of any number other than the round you're on is worth five points for the temporary team score on the table tally.
  For example, rolling three 5's    in Round 3 is worth five points.

The round ends when the head table accumulates at least 21 points. The player at the head table who earned the 21 or more points rings the bell to signal the end of the round.

 

However, each player, including the player who rang the bell, continues rolling until one of their rolls earns them no points, even though the round is officially over. This means that a player may possibly earn several points or even roll one or more Buncos after the bell has been rung!

 

It's possible for a team to win a round without rolling any Buncos.

Shadow Puppets

Really though, these can be entertaining for hours! 

I honestly could not tell you how I managed to create this old bald guy, but that is my latest hand shadow puppet! 

Ice Blocking

It is a very simple activity where you sit on blocks of Ice (like the ones you buy at gas stations) and the ice will slide you right down a large hill. You can try freezing your own with ropes in them for handles.

Awkward Twister

In this game you must stand in a circle to begin, and one person starts by moving one of their feet to touch one of the feet of the person next to them. Then that person must move the foot that was touched without moving their other foot beyond pivoting, or touching the ground with anything but their feet, to touch one of the feet of the next person and so on, and so on.

Suck and Blow

The idea is one person holds a card to their lips by breathing in (sucking) on the flat side of the card.  The goal is to transfer that card to another person by having them suck on the other side card, while you stop breathing in and exhale (blow).  The fun part of the game is if the card drops... 😏

The Toaster Game

This is a much calmer game, but it still has the potential to get rather messy if desired. It’s very much one of the games where kids can learn about each other through play. Very simply, the group should sit in a circle around a toaster. The leader should provide this, along with plenty of bread. A piece of bread should be put in the toaster and cooked. While the toast is cooking, each player has to state an interesting fact about themselves in turn.
Whoever is speaking when the toaster pops up has to eat the toast with whatever topping the leader chooses. This can start off very simple – jam, peanut butter, etc – but can progress to more messy and unusual ones, like mashed potato or ice cream! This game teaches children information about their peers, but it’s also the combination of competition and messy food-related fun that they most enjoy.

Balloon Game

This unfortunately requires quite a bit of preparation, but it is worth it for the amusement of watching people play the ice breaker. Each person has a balloon on a string tied to their ankle; the string needs to be fairly long, at least a couple of feet. The object of the game is then for each person to try and pop everyone else's balloon, while simultaneously keeping theirs safe. This is one of the great ice breakers for big groups because the action is frenetic and often you will end up with very unlikely winners. Be careful where you play it though - if you're not on the ground floor of the building, the people beneath you aren't likely to enjoy ice breakers like this too much!

Beautiful Babies

Ask everyone in the group to bring several baby pictures of themselves – including toddler photos - the next time they meet, but ask them not to show anyone. Then put all the photos in the middle and have people guess who is who.
Once they have all guessed, go in a circle and see if everyone can recount a funny memory from around that time. Of course, they probably won’t be able to remember the exact day the photo was taken, but maybe they can remember something from around the time they were aged three or four. Can be hilarious!

Stick It to Me!

Buy a package of sticky notes, then let people break up into pairs. Each person will write a famous name on a piece of paper – for example, Justin Bieber, Barack Obama, Adele, Amy Winehouse etc – then stick it on the other’s forehead without them seeing what’s written.

Once everyone has a sticky note plastered to their forehead, they have to go around the room asking yes or no questions about themselves. For example, “Am I female”, Am I a rock star”, “Am I still alive?” Keep on going until everyone knows who they are.

Would I Lie to You?

This is a new take on the popular television program. Each member of the youth group has to tell three facts about themselves: two true and one false. The group has to guess which one isn’t true.
Warn the teens beforehand that if they say anything outrageous they’ll most likely be caught out immediately – unless they really have done something outrageous!

Be a Smartie

Give each group member a mini-pack of Smarties, and have them eat them all so only one colour is left. Once they have only one colour in their hand, tell them have to answer a question before the group based on that colour.
For this to work, you’ll need to make a list of questions beforehand that you think the members of your teenage youth group would enjoy discussing. Don’t ask closed questions, as the goal is to get them talking. For example, ask:

• Red: What is your favourite pop group/singer, and why?
• Orange: What personality trait do you think is your best – and worst? Explain in detail, giving a true-life example of each.
• Blue: Do you, or have you, had any hobbies? Share your favourite hobby with the group, or alternatively think of an activity you once did that you eventually gave up, such as Girl Scouts or playing the trumpet. Explain why.
• Green: What is your idea of a dream date – tell the group not only who you’d like to be with, but where you’d go and what you’d do.
• Yellow: Do you have a favourite holiday destination – or is there a foreign country you have always dreamed of visiting? Explain.

Indian Chalk Fight

Holy Indian powder. DIY! Perfect for a chalk fight.just corn starch, food coloring and water. Lay out on a cookie sheet and wait for all the water to evaporate (about 2 days) then crush up the powder till it's fine and then have your chalk fight!
